Taking a mid-week moment to celebrate and thank those standing up and kicking ass

This week is ⚡️GRETA THUNBERG ⚡️ the 16 year old Swedish political activist seeking to stop global warming and climate change. In August 2018, she became a prominent figure for starting the first school strike for climate, outside the Swedish parliament building.

‘At the end of a record-hot summer in Sweden last August, then-15-year-old Greta Thunberg decided she would not be going back to school. Frustrated by the lack of attention paid to the existential threat of global warming — not least by politicians campaigning for upcoming elections — she set up outside the Swedish parliament with a water bottle, her rucksack filled with books and snacks and a homemade sign announcing her “School Strike for Climate.” “I tried to bring people along to join me,” she says — she’d been inspired by the Parkland, Florida, students who walked out of class to protest gun violence — “but no one was really interested, and so I had to do it by myself.”

This week is ⚡️SARAH ILLENBERGER ⚡️Berlin-based artist, illustrator and designer.

'I have a lot of fun with what I do and in doing that I communicate ideas'.

I have had my eye on Sarah's work for years. Her humorous, colourful and beautifully crafted visual stories. I used to geek out on her infographics and more recently drawn to a lot of the nature she draws upon and elegantly transforms. 'Her visual language is defined by giving common things a new meaning.' A combination of craftsperson and art director.

Taking a mid-week moment to celebrate and thank those standing up and kicking ass

This week is ⚡️MALIKA FAVRE ⚡️A French artist based in London. 'A mind full of filthy ideas and creative brilliance.'

Her bold, minimal style – often described as Pop Art meets OpArt. Her unmistakable style has established her as one of the UK’s most sought after graphic artists. Malika’s clients include The New Yorker, Vogue, BAFTA, Sephora and Penguin Books, amongst many others.

Already a fan with The New Yorker covers being my particular faves, it is superb to see Malika's work represent the recently launched and flying Where Are The Boss Ladies? (more on that next week).
